Isosceles Triangle

The following applications may take some time to load depending on connection speed. Please wait.

An isosceles triangle is a triangle with (at least) two equal sides. The two equal sides are called the legs and the unequal side is called the base of the triangle. The name derives from the Greek iso (same) and skelos (leg).
The measure of the base angles of an isosceles triangle are always equal.
In an isosceles triangle, altitude, angle bisector and median drawn from topmost vertex to the base are congruent.
In an isosceles triangle, the medians drawn from base vertices to the legs are equal in length.
In an isosceles triangle, the angle bisectors drawn from base vertices to the legs are equal in length.
In an isosceles triangle, the altitudes drawn from base vertices to the legs are equal in length.
In an isosceles triangle, the angle bisectors, altitudes and medians drawn from base vertices to the legs are not congruent to each other.
